On November, 20th, 110 years have passed since the birth of Michael Klimkovich , the playwright, the poet, the critic, the researcher of the Belorussian literature and theatre, the teacher, the author of a hymn of the Belorussian SSR (1955), the chairman of the Belorussian Union of writers (1932-1939). The genre palette of dramatic works of Michael Klimkovich is wide and various. There are poems “Catherine Zhernosek”, "Repayment", the historical-revolutionary drama "All Power to the Soviets!", the trilogy "George Skorina", the one-act "On Vilna road", "Small cloudlet", etc. In his works, the author shows different history stages of the Belorussian people, their heroism and courage. In the history of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus Michael Klimkovich is known as the author of the libretto of the opera "Kastus Kalinovsky" and the ballet "Prince-lake". In 1947 in the production of epic character "Kastus Kalinovsky" (conductor A.Baron, directors B.Mardvinov and U.Shahray) was brightly embodied heroic and dramatic line of the opera. In 1949 conductor I.Gitgartsa and choreographer  K.Mulera produced the ballet "Prince-lake" on the stage of the theatre (the libretto was in co-authorship with V. Vainonen) which differed with deep folk origins of the musical material, with high emotionality,  with acting ensemble, freshness and clearness of the form.
