Uriy Troyan (born 06.10.1950, Minsk) is a People's artist of Belarus (1979). Graduated from the State Choreographic College (1968). Since 1968 till 1988 was a leading soloist of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus. In 1988-89s he was the head of the Belorussian Choreographic College, since 1990 he has been a deputy director of the National Academic Ballet Theatre of Belarus. Since 2008 he has been the chief ballet master, since 2009 he has been the artistic head of the ballet of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus.
Versatility of the artist’s talent uncovered itself significantly in ballets with modern plastique. The Youth (“After a ball” by G.Wagner), Masheka, Thyl (“The Chosen One”, “Thyl Ulenspiegel” by E.Glebov), Siegfried, Desire, the Prince (“The Swan Lake”, “The Nutcracker”, “The Sleeping Beauty” by P.Tchaikovsky), Jan de Brien (“Raimonda” by A.Glazunov), Albert (“Giselle” A.Adan), James (“Silfida” H.Levenskolda), Vazlav (“The Fountain of Bakhchisaray” B.Asafiev), Hoze (“Carmen-Suite” Z.Bizet – R.Shedrin), Adam (“Creation of the World” A.Petrov), Poet (“Carmina Burana” on the music by Orfa), Romeo (“Romeo and Juliet” S.Prokofiev), Spartacus (“A.Hachaturyan), and also in the one-act ballet “Adazhietto” by K.Maler.
Uriy Troyan is the director of the ballets “The Wings of Memory” by V.Kondrusevich, “The Fountain of Bakhchisaray” by B.Asafiev, of numerous concerts, dances in films. Tour activities of the artist involve more than 80 countries, among which are states in Europe, Asia and Africa.
