On March 20 and 21 there will be a premiere of the opera “Nabucco” by Giuseppe Verdi in the production by Mikhail Pandzhavidze (Russia). The main aim of the performance is, according to the director’s message, to “introduce” to the contemporary, particularly, young audience the very ancient, almost mythological history of the king Nabucco. It is supposed to become clear and close to the audience; it should invoke natural response. “The young don’t understand the death of the Christ, the sense of His suffering, the horror from the fall of the Solomon’s Temple. Nothing is left from the time of the king Nabucodonosor, but for the Wailing Wall. It narrates to us about the events of 2500 years’ prescription. That is the exact place where this history was rose before my eyes; the story that is clear to the Jews, but obscure to the people of the other religion,” – says the director, -“to feel it deeply, we need to naturally depict this story on stage, like the director of the film “The Passion of the Christ” Mel Gibson has done”. The main idea of the performance identified the means of embodiment. Unique technical novelties, that a modern belarussian opera theatre has, are supposed to be used in the performance – those are the facilities of the new stage, means of contemporary machinery and video projection (including 3D effects). Besides, striking sets and costumes were created for the performance. And with it, for the director on the first place there is still work with artist. “The story of Nabucco is a story of men and people; there is no one who would have went out of it without any changes, - Mikhail Pandzhavidze affirms, - the artists are maintained with the same demands as the drama actors have”. The artistic head of the project is the honoured artist of Ukraine Victor Ploskina, the production conductor is Vyacheslav Volich, the production choirmaster is the Honoured Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus Nina Lomanovich, and the production designer is Aleksandr Kostuchenko. |
